Are you struggling with Time Management? Everyone knows that time is money. But getting a handle on time can be painful when there is so much to do. One of the biggest triggers of anxiety is poor Time Management.

Five years ago, I learned a method that helped me bring 40 hours down to 30 and my inbox down to zero by the end of each day! Here are just a few of the quality tips that I return to constantly!

Time Management Tips

1. Apply Your Deadlines Accordingly.

When prioritizing tasks, align them according to your business goals. Reaching your goals should be your number one priority. Apply the bulk of your time to get these tasks done. Then, schedule other tasks subsequently.

2. Stop Procrastinating.

Procrastination is a crime, that only leads to sorrow. I can stop at any time. In fact, I will tomorrow. – Unknown

Do you often find that you still haven’t started the work you had intended to complete days earlier? Or maybe it’s hard for you to sit down and start a piece of work. Might you often do low-priority work as more important deadlines are looming? Most people procrastinate on occasion, but if it’s interfering with your ability to perform at the level you’re capable of and accomplish the things you want to do, it’s time to take action.

Brian Tracy has written a wonderful book that deals specifically with procrastination: Eat That Frog! 2nd Edition, 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time

3. Plan ahead.

Successful people look at their calendars first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. In the PM, it gives you a good visual idea of what you have tomorrow. Thus freeing your mind of anxiety. In the AM, it gives us a moment to pause and visualize the tasks completed.

This visualization technique is only 6:49 long!

4. Delegate more often.

One of the key reminders I give Senior Management is that they hired extremely talented people. Let go of the tasks that are taking up your time so you can focus on the real work. Hire a VA if you don’t have a staff. Your time is money. A great manager understands Time Management.

5. Eliminate distractions.

Sitting down at your computer to work on a project that’s due later today, you decide to first check your email. A peer passes by in the hall and you jump up to chat. Doughnuts are in the kitchen! If you’re easily distracted, you probably get some enjoyment in handling many things at once. It might be time to consider changing your habits.

Add in extra time when planning a project. Additionally, block out physical distractions. Turn your desk to face the wall instead of the doorway. Use noise-canceling headphones to help keep you fixated on the task at hand. When working on a tight deadline, go into the office early or plan to do work in the evening.

6. Self-Care

Of course, if you are in better health, your mind is clear. A clear mind makes healthier decisions and is able to stay on task. So eat right, drink lots of water, and get plenty of sleep! Who knew that health was an important tool for Time Management?

And there you have it! You are on your way to lowering your stress levels!
