Behind The Times?
Gamification has been upon us for a while now. Maybe I am a little behind the times. I found it quite interesting that there are many game apps available for productivity.
I grew up with a rather large tribe of brothers, sisters, cousins, and extended family members. Therefore, we had many games we loved (and did not love) to play. I remember the one game I did win for my team was “Capture the Flag”.
We played, Red Light/Green Light, Red Rover, Simon says, etc. etc. Then there were board games. I found out that cheating at Monopoly was not a great idea. Monopoly, ugh, this was one game that usually ended with someone crying. I chose not to play this with my own kids
I remember buying Yahtzee to help my kids learn math. They loved it, of course until my oldest son said: “This is just like math”. Another game donated to charity. Another one bit the dust.
My daughter loves board and card games. So, does my granddaughter. Uno is the big thing with the family right now.
Not surprisingly, Gamification is a rather hot item these days. Pokémon-Go got people out of their homes and getting exercise. Chore Wars claims: Finally, you can claim experience points for housework!
